I Break My Favorite Mirror

Now I have a blank wall after I accidentally broke our half body sized mirror early today. I was cleaning our dusty bedroom wall where it was placed when I accidentally pushed it with my elbow, dropped it and broke. Hubby and I just bought that mirror recently and now it’s broken and is going to be dumped in the large trash bin here in the villas. It is so sad knowing I couldn’t get a good deal again for a western decor like that mirror we got. I had to bug and give the sales woman a sad face just to give us even a little bit of discount from its original price. I fell in love with its simplicity and with how its frame was finely carved. Since we got that mirror, it became my favorite and the only mirror I trust among the four mirrors we have here in the house.
Aside from being remorseful of my carelessness, I am also disturbed about this broken mirror because we have a belief here that once you break a mirror, you will suffer from bad luck for seven years. So since I just broke a mirror, it means I will be suffering bad luck. Who wouldn’t be disturbed by that? Who would want to suffer from bad luck for the long seven years? I don’t, certainly. I strongly believe this particular belief among the many beliefs passed to us by our parents which they got from the old folks. That’s why I never broke a mirror before other than this favorite mirror of mine, of all mirrors! Now, I am putting myself in the test seat for this belief. How could it be true?
